Reflection Game Show
This game show is an exciting way to assess students’ knowledge. Using teams and a carnival wheel, the classroom turns into a fun team-building event for students and their teacher.
Statue!
“Statue!” is a fun game where a designated person calls out ” Statue!” and students have to stop whatever they are doing and pose like a statue.

The students embody the characters they create in the larger project. They take their writing and give it physical form while tapping into their imagination to further their writing experience.

Reflecting Using Creativity
I give students a chance to reflect on what they have learned about the word of the day (in this case the word is CREATIVITY). I remind them of the definitions of the word, and of the songs we’ve sung, our movement and activities, and of the books we have read that relate to the word.
Reflections on Mindfulness
In this excerpt I am leading a figure drawing exercise with students belonging to an affinity group of young grade school African students prompting them to draw what they see from their point of view. The projected outcome was to identify the level of their artistic ability, challenge their independence, and lead into conversation about building artistic observational skills and mindfulness to then recap their challenges and celebrate the successes.
